An edition dedicated to Manuel de Falla and Andalusian musical roots

This seventh edition of Festikids, part of the Early Music Festival, will pay tribute to the 150th anniversary of the birth of Manuel de Falla and will feature, as a major new addition, the incorporation of popular music and flamenco.

“We want to rescue and highlight our authentic Andalusian musical roots,” Jorge Rodríguez Morata emphasized during the presentation, also underlining the inclusive nature of the project and its objective of transforming the classroom so that students “stop being mere spectators and take on the leading role.”.

Festikids will also continue to expand its presence in different municipalities of the province such as Fuente Vaqueros, Albuñol and Huéscar, bringing music and educational activities to new educational and cultural spaces.

Culture, participation and the future

The Councillor for Culture of the Granada City Council, Jorge Saavedra, highlighted the role of Festikids within the cultural future of the city and its connection with Granada's candidacy for European Capital of Culture 2031.

For its part, Fundación Unicaja reaffirmed its commitment to the project for the second year in a row, defending culture as an educational, participatory and inclusive tool.

The Education Department of the Andalusian Regional Government also highlighted the importance of promoting projects that foster equal opportunities and learning through cultural and artistic experiences.

One of the most special moments of the day came with the performance of the Children's Choir of the Mercedarian School, who performed Los cuatro muleros, popularized by Federico García Lorca, putting the musical finale to a presentation full of emotion, culture and children's protagonism.

The Festikids Gala 2026 will be held on May 14 at 11:30 a.m. at the Federico García Lorca Center, where the awards ceremony for this edition will take place.

At Festikids, we would like to thank the institutions, educational centers, sponsors, families, and participating entities that make it possible to continue building a space where education, culture, and values grow hand in hand with children.
